SPORT

From youth athletes to the elite, the mental game is a critical factor in an individual or team’s success.  For an individual athlete, strong mental skills can help them to have more consistent performances, have increased confidence, and feel more in control, among other benefits.  In a team environment, there are a lot of additional factors at play including the type of climate the coach creates, the types of behaviors that he or she reinforces, the overall culture of the team, and its cohesiveness, to name a few.

COACHES & SPORT ADMINISTRATORS

As the leaders in the athletic arena, you have the ability to significantly impact the experiences of the athletes and other members on your team. So what are the characteristics of an effective coach or sport administrator?  Research shows that effective coaches and administrators are transformational leaders, effective communicators, have committed team members, and have a clear vision to name a few.  It is these components, among others, that will result in the types of performances that your team has. Click below to learn more about how we can help your team perform optimally.

ATHLETES

As an athlete, the only thing you can be certain of is that things will not go according to plan.  Mike Tyson has said that “Everyone has a plan ‘till they get punched in the mouth”.  When you put yourself out there in the competitive arena, inevitably, you will get punched in the mouth.  It will happen when the referee makes a bad call, when a fan yells your name during your backswing, or when you don’t get enough sleep the night before a competition.  How you recover from those setbacks is what separates the top of the leaderboard from the bottom.  There are a variety of mental skills that can be utilized to help you recover when things don’t go according to plan, to improve your overall performance as well as consistently perform under the pressure which is inherent in sport.
